Shakira formed the charitable children's
organization "Pies Descalzos," which was named after her
third album. With her foundation, Shakira had donated 10,000 pairs
of tennis shoes to her hometown of Barranquilla to impecunious children.
Pies Descalzos is devoted to finding and providing opportunities
for children who are victims of the violence in Colombia. This Organization
originated in Barranquilla, a city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia,
and is now reaching other parts of the country.
